'Give me a reason!' Man charged for pulling gun during altercation at crash scene

Authorities in Cameron County have charged an Emporium man after he allegedly pulled a gun on another individual during an altercation at the scene of a crash earlier this week.

Police say on Monday, around 11 p.m., troopers were responding to a vehicle crash along West Allegany Ave. when they received a report that one of the individuals on scene has brandished a weapon.

Troopers say, according to witnesses, two nearby residents were attempting to assist the driver involved in the crash when a third man, identified as 30-year-old David Akins Jr., arrived at the scene and physically shoved one of the "good Samaritans."

According to police, the woman's husband then began to "wrestle" with Akins, at which time he reportedly pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the man's head, stating, "give me a reason [expletive]."

Police say the witnesses then reportedly informed Akins that troopers were en route to the scene, at which time he reportedly put the gun away.

Akins was arraigned Tuesday to the McKean County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, making terroristic threats and harassment, according to online court records.

Court dockets show that Akins has since posted bond.
