Clearfield County inmate charged in fatal drug overdose at correctional facility

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — A Clearfield County inmate has been charged with the overdose death of a woman.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, in July, 38-year-old Angela Ricketts gave multiple drugs to fellow inmates while she was incarcerated at the Clearfield County Correctional Facility.
Ricketts was initially arrested on warrants and managed to smuggle three baggies of drugs into the jail, according to the affidavit.
Three of the women overdosed on the drugs, including one woman who was pronounced dead at the jail, according to the affidavit.
The cause of death was determined to be an overdose on fentanyl.
Ricketts faces several felony and misdemeanor offenses, including one first-degree felony count of drug delivery resulting in death.
She was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Joseph M. Morris, of Clearfield, and was returned to the correctional facility with her bail denied.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 27 before Morris.
An online court docket did not list an attorney for Ricketts Wednesday afternoon.
